Board & Training at Laurelwood Kennels!
This program was created for those owners who do not have the time, energy, or desire to train their own dog in a group class or private lessons. In this program, dogs are brought to our facility, at 475 E. Middle Ave San Martin, Ca 95046, to train.
Dogs who are enrolled in our Board & Train program stay overnight with us. We hold 6-10 training sessions per day lasting about 10-15 minutes long each.
The dogs are worked on all of the basic obedience commands needed for a pleasant, family companion; with special attention given to the following: attention to name, sit, down, stay, come when called, and walk on a loose leash.
Laurelwood Kennels has tremendous success in reclaiming dogs with severe behavioral problems, including aggression, separation anxiety, and extreme shyness or lack of socialization. There is no dog that can't be helped!
Dogs in the Board & Training Program are worked by both of our trainers Initially; your dog is worked alone, with very little distraction, until he understands the exercise being taught. As the dog progresses, he is worked with another dog nearby, then another, until he is able to execute all the commands in the presence of multiple distractions such as: dogs, toys, food and people. Each day new obedience exercises are introduced as the dog grasps those already taught.
Rates For Board & Training
7 day Board & Train Package:
We offer a 7 day obedience Board and Training package which includes your dogs meals, basic obedience consisting of sit, stay come and working with potty training and playtime at the rate of $700.00 a week. After the 7days we will re-valuate your dogs progress and discuss if additional training is needed for an additional $200.00. Included in that price are 2 follow up visits with the trainers where we can discuss possible questions and or concerns that you may be experiencing at home. This is included in all of our Boarding and Training packages.

3 Week Board & Train Package:
A 3 Week package includes all basic household manners including sit/stay, down/stay, and a solid reliable come and leave it, for $1100.00. Plus meals, exercise time and playtime.
4 Week Board & Train Package:
A four week customizable package polishes the above behaviors and reinforces skills learned $1500.00
As with any training, the lessons learned must be reinforced at home and made a part of your pet’s daily routine. There is No Guaranty on the behavior of your pet once you have it at home should the learning process cease to continue. We guaranty that you will go home- with a well-mannered pet and all the tools you need to continue it’s training
Our training emphasizes quiet commands, showing the dog what is expected and then quickly rewarding a correct response. We use repetition and consistency to 'shape' the dogs behavior until it becomes a habit. The use of toys and play makes learning fun for the dogs. Our goal is to produce a dog that looks forward to the training sessions and enjoys the learning process.
We teach dogs to want to work for you and the reward of lots of verbal praise pats and hugs!
